Here’s an update on his condition:
We’re concerned about two infections.
Kenny has one infection in his lungs making it hard for him to breathe on his own and heal in general. Good news (relatively speaking) is that the infection is just in the lungs, (yellowish sputum) but no sign of infection in the blood.
They started a new antibiotic 4 days ago. We were hoping to see some improvement, as usually you can see the effects of antibiotics within 3 Days. However, it’s day four and when I got there he was, well, looking the same.
After a talk with the doctor, we learned that this type of antibiotic takes longer to show results. The doc said that his colleague has a patient with the same problem, and it took two weeks until they got better.
There’s a second infection now at the site of Kenny’s skull operation, which may be affecting his ability to heal. Either tonight or tomorrow they will perform a small surgery which will clear up this infection.
The last few afternoons I’ve been to see him, he was sleeping. Today he opened his eyes and I had a chance to play him your recordings and read him your messages while I believed he was conscious. He was only awake 30 minutes before his eyes closed again.
Would you like an opportunity to leave a recording for Kenny or take a photo with him? (symbolically of course, we’re putting his face on a mannequin). We’re going to take photos with you and the fake Kenny at the run on Saturday and save them to put in Kenny’s room when he’s out of ICU to remind him of everyone who cares about him.
You should also know that Kenny was self-insured and although he has some funds, it’s going to be a long haul. If you would like to help with the expenses, we will have a donation box at the Hash as well.
Again, keep your prayers coming, put any messages you’d like us to read to Kenny in the comments, and come out to Singakerta for the Hash on Saturday.
